From "Clinical Practice and Research" to "Medical Education": My Goals and Beliefs in Medical Education Research and Supporting Learners

What you keep in mind in your work and research

I graduated from Kyoto University in 2008 and, after completing clinical training, entered the Kyoto University Graduate School.

Since then, I have worked as a neurologist, engaging in both clinical practice and research. In 2023, I assumed my current position, where I primarily focus on student support and managing undergraduate education.

At present, I concentrate on the following three key principles:
1. Never forgetting that learners (students) are the central focus of education.
2. Ensuring that the goal of education extends beyond graduation, aiming to support students in leading fulfilling lives afterward.
3. While valuing the "free academic atmosphere," also promoting "self-discipline and respect," "independence and autonomy," and "self-initiative and creativity."

Moving forward, I will continue to reflect on my own experience as a student and strive to enhance the learning environment for future generations.
