“Kenkyusha-yoshi (good for researchers), “Shimin/Kanja-yoshi (good for citizens and patients)”, “Shakai-yoshi (good for society)"

What you keep in mind in your work and research

This is the philosophy of the "Sampo-yoshi" (Japanese for “good for all three sides”; good for the seller, good for the buyer, and good for society) of the Omi merchants, as taught to me by my mentor, Dr Takashi Kawamura. In this concept, the seller is the researcher. It's beyond doubt that researchers conduct research for their own benefit. The buyer is the citizens or patients who participated in the research. I try to make them feel that they have learned something and participated in something meaningful. Finally, research outcomes can lead to real changes in society. I strive to conduct such research.
