Journey from Kyoto University to the Frontiers of Neuroscience

What do you find interesting about your work and research

In the field of neuroscience, recent advancements in technology, particularly the application of optogenetics, have made it possible to activate or inhibit specific neural circuits. What I find particularly fascinating is being able to observe real-time changes in the behavior of experimental animals by manipulating these neural circuits. When I was an undergraduate student at Kyoto University in the 2010s, optogenetics was still a cutting-edge technology, but it has since become a widely used tool. Being part of the rapidly advancing world of neuroscience inspires me every day, and I am grateful to be in an environment where I can constantly take on new challenges and explore the unknown.
