Pursuing Quality of Life Improvement and Supportive Care for Gynecological Cancer Patients

What you keep in mind in your work and research

I have started research on improving the quality of life (QOL) for gynecological cancer patients, driven by the hope that not only can their cancer be treated, but that their QOL can be enhanced as well. My research focuses on identifying issues related to the QOL of gynecological cancer patients and overcoming them, while also developing healthcare apps and medical devices aimed at improving QOL. Through this research, I have realized the need for supportive care for gynecological cancer patients and have established a new 'Cancer Supportive Care Outpatient Clinic' within the Department of Gynecology at Kyoto University. As cancer treatment outcomes improve and more patients 'live with cancer,' I aim to establish medical care that can 'support' patients throughout their cancer journey, in both clinical and research settings.
