Pioneering New Frontiers in Human Immunology Research

My encounter with the field of immunology was through lectures given by Dr. Nagahiro Minato, the current President of Kyoto University, during my third year of medical school. I was truly fascinated by how the immune system has elaborately evolved to distinguish self and non-self and eliminate external threats. After four years of clinical work, I am currently focusing on understanding the pathogenesis of human autoimmune diseases. Instead of rushing to conclusions, I believe the highlight of research life is the repeated process of constructing and testing hypotheses to solve the mystery that lies ahead. I will motivate myself to contribute to further scientific achievements, building upon the 125-year legacy of Kyoto University.
